My reading activity. In reading we have been learning about recycling and we learnt how to make parachutes by using plastic bags.

How do Plastic bottles get made into clothing?

Did you ever wonder that the bottles that we recycle can be made into clothing? The process can be very complicated, the journey of this task is very complex.

Firstly the bottles have to get sorted because there still be water in the bottles so they have to take out the water so that it is not moistened. Then they get wrapped into cellophane. When it’s wrapped and everything is sorted, the bottles will be put into sizable boxes and into broad ships to get sailed to China.  

When the ship is in China they will be put in trucks to be sent to a factory. Furthermore, the first stage in the factory is shredding. They need to be shredded so it doesn’t affect the quality of the plastic. If there are colour tops on the bottles they will be put into a bath so the worker and strain them.

The stickers will be put into another bath called caustic soda. The soda is vile for the skin but good for taking off labels. After a lot of swimming in the baths what left is the clear plastic shreds.

Afterwards, they will separate the colour bottles and the white bottles. White bottles for white clothing and colour bottles for different colour clothing.

Next, they will put in the white bottles in the mixing machine. The mixing machine will make the bottles dry, and the mixing machine will take a long time for about 10 hours of mixing for the the shaded materials.

Furthermore they had to get stretched.  This is where you get to the stretching process, it's taking so long to stretch the material but the next part is to tear it apart again. This going to turn into polyester. Later there is carning. Carning is when you brush them all together. They have to be brushed to go into a similar direction so it strengthens the material.

 

Afterwards, they had to put the bottles into a rotating screw machine which heats up about 270 degrees celcius. This machine will melt the bottles and will go down into a sieve and then down into long strings and into the commentator below. This is now turned into thread but unfortunately the thread isn’t so strong enough to make cloth yet.

But after hours and hours of turning,they are now turned into cloth. There is a loom which is a machine that rotates thousands and thousands of thread to make the sheet. There are still more processes to go through. The first it is very delicate. This machine makes tiny loops to the surface. The second is the opposite, instead of using tough steel brushes the spinning rowers catches the loops and making it a soft and smooth for the touch.

Finally we have got the plastic bottles into polyester, now it is time to make clothes. The designers had to mark out their design.  Later it will be sent to the workers who will put them in the sewing machine to put them together.

So we have the bottles that were carefully sorted, then shredded, then turned into cloth, that cloth was then shredded into fluff and next, spun into thread. That is how the plastic bottles that was thrown out get made into clothing.

 

Recycling. At school I have been learning about recycling. In recycling you can use things again and not wasting it. Also I have learnt about the dump that has methane gas

The non-identical shapes in 3D and the net of the shapes in 2D. We have been learning about Octahedron and Dodecahedron. We also learn to create nets for 3D shapes.

  W.A.L.T Learn the different names of angles and what they look like and identify them.

       = Acute

Acute has to be between 0 to 90 degrees. This one is 30 degrees.

This an obtuse. The obtuse has to be 90 to 180 degrees.

This is a straight angle. It is 0 to 180 degrees. This is a Reflex. The degree for this angle is 180 to 360 degrees.

Those are the names and angles I have learnt at maths with my teacher. I am proud at my work because I persevered.

My writing. we were learning to use descriptive words in our writing.

It was 29 degrees and it was on the road. It was scorching hot and very thermal. Citizens were roaring and using encouragement. Children were in the crowd observing the bikers. Edward a biker was sweating and trying to focus,he was still in 2nd place and was pedaling very forcefully around the corners. He must have thought… I can do this no matter what how hard it is to achieve my desire. But then about halfway through the race something vile has happened. As Edward was pedaling he didn’t realize that there was a big slippery puddle. The bike started to vibrate. Then he started to pratfall. The bike fell and left Edward on the road. But promptly he could hear other bikers biking. His heartbeat was going briskly, but he thought this is my dream I would never give up. Bravely he stood up again and got back on his bike. He kept on going with sweat and confidence and then he rapidly speed up and pass the first biker on the race. He thought keep going you're nearly there! Edward can see the finish line clearly and in exuberance he won!!

Pronunciation in Maori. My friend and I have been learning about pronouncing vowels words alphabet and the consonants in Maori.

My writing. Today our class had to use similes, alliteration and emotive language. Hopefully you can see some of mine

The new purple planet Penero

I am going to tell you a story about a President when he was a boy flying to a outstanding purple planet whom we haven’t seen before with his friend.

My name is Eddie the President’s friend. I can’t wait to tell you the story of me and the President when he was a boy flying to a new planet.

It all started one cold morning when I was eating my breakfast. It was Saturday and my father was at the table with me reading the newspaper. The windows are as cold as a southerly wind that blows at you.

“What are you reading about Dad” I asked him. “ You know your friend William” he said. “ Yes” I said. “ Well, your friend William discovered another planet and wanted to tell the public and he is in the newspaper apparently and it said He is the first child who discovered another planet”.

My mouth just dropped open. I ran out the door and went to my friends place to tell him he is in the newspaper. I knocked on the door and there was Eddie’s mother. “ Hello Mrs Partridge” I said. “ Can I come in and see Eddie”. “ Yes certainly. I went in and ran upstairs to Eddie’s room. I opened the door and closed it behind me.

“ Eddie I just heard that you are in the newspaper”. “ I know isn’t it exciting” he was looking through his microscope. “ What are you going to name that planet” I asked. “ Hmm” “ I think I will name that planet Penero.

“ Do you know what colour the planet is” I asked. “ Yes I looked at it through my big microscope last night and the colour is somehow purple. It’s as purple as purple pansies . The purple planet Penero yeah that’s what I will call it”. That’s an uncanny name I thought. “ Do you want to visit that planet” I asked him. “ Yeah I have my own rocketship in the vast garage. Eddie has a big garage. Big as a elephant.

I ran outside while Eddie opens the garage. The garage opened and there was the space rocket. It’s really towering. It’s blue with yellow golden stars when it shimmers in the sunlight. I glanced at the rocketship then turned to Eddie.  The rocketship is as high as the sky. “ Let’s go” said Eddie since he can’t wait to visit another planet.

We ran in the rocketship and I made Eddie the rocketship person to press buttons and do anything because it is not my rocket. “ Hold on James” he said to me. “ It’s going to be a rapid ride but you’ll get use to it”. I gulped. I don’t think I will get use to this. Eddie turned on the countdown. It proceeds 10 counting down to 9, 8, 7 - I can hear the fire burning 6,5 ,4 - this is going to be shocking 3, 2 , 1 blast off!!

I felt sick. We were nearly out of the beautiful blue and green planet earth!! This is a rapid rocket I can’t hold my breath until finally we were out in space. Wow!! In space it is so

appealing. I can see the yellow twinkling stars like the shiny sun.

“ How many planets do we have to pass when we get to planet Penero” I asked him. “ In my calculations we have to pass four Mars,Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. “ So the purple planet Penero is in between Saturn and Uranus” I said. “Yes” Eddie said. Later we were zooming, zagging zigging in every four planets we passed. Until we came to the purple planet panero. “ Waow it looks beautiful” I said. My friend is quick-witted.

When you are far distance to the planet Penero it looks small but when you adjacent to it the planet is vast. “ Do you have any space suits” I asked him. “ Yeah they are at the back in the rocketship”. A few seconds we landed. Then I saw something strange somewhere in the planet, it was black. It must have been my imagination. Then I asked Eddie a question. “ Eddie, how did you get the rocketship and where did you get it from?”. He did a evil laugh but it was  satisfactory.

“ That wasn’t a good laugh just saying” I said. “ So how did you get the towering rocketship” I asked him. “ Huh, i stole it” he said. “ What you stole it” I said in a not so surprising voice. “ But how did your Mum accept it”. “ I tricked her and said that I went over to the astronomer people and asked if I can use the rocketship for a few days”. “ Your very sneaky” I asid. “ I know I’m always sneaky when it comes to discovering another planet”. “ Was that your microscope your’s”. “ Nope I stole it by the toy shop and I sneakily slyly slithered to get the microscope”.

Later after when we finished chattering we got out of the spaceship and walked on to planet Penero. “ Holy Cow”I said as I stood on the planet. Eddie came behind me. “ This is phenomenal” he said since he loved exploring planets. Later I heard a windy voice saying you will go into the black hole with no reason. Later I saw it. THE BLACK GHOST!!!!!

We were learning to solve ratio problems by using the times tables and patterns.

Persuasive writing

Does music help people learn or distract them. Does it depend on the music or the person.

In my opinion we should not listen to music because it can distract children when they are trying to focus on their work. I will tell you with my reasons why it depends on the person not on the music.

1. Children are more likely to be on the music than on their work (as in, in the music not doing their work and what will become with the teacher).

2. Music can make the children not concentrate on their own school work. When a teacher is trying to talk to you, you won’t listen will you. It would be ghastly for the teacher to see you not listening or seeing anything on your work for what you are doing.

3. One time when I was listening to music and doing my work, the music made me not type anything. The music overtook me from my learning. Not listening to music and being in a quiet space made me do my school work more. I can type more words for my work I can never be distracted by other people. I would just sit there with me and my chromebook typing away so that nobody could sidetrack me.

There is a time and place where you can listen to music but not doing school work. Those are my comprehensions why we should not listen to music because of distractions and low progress achievements.
